Painting of a countryside river

   This is a colourful peasant painting, charmingly called 'Country Wildlife of Birds and Plants in
   River'. Strangely symmetrical, the block of blue that constitutes the water is surrounded on the
   top and bottom of the painting by a series of identical simple orchids which are bent over as if in
   a breeze. Several white birds sit on the water, a few flapping their wings as if in mid-takeoff.
