Speckled green kimono
This elegant kimono was obviously very valuable in its hey-day, but years of constant use haverendered it somewhat less magnificent. The sleeves are slightly frayed, and some of the seams along
its edging have clearly been restitched with gold thread. The dappled green pattern seems slightly
distorted here and there where patches of almost-identical-but-not-quite material have been deployed
to cover up tears.
